Chima is an amazing fashion designer, CEO Virtuelin Wears. He had a vision of combining his clothing line with Footwear production.

The Aba Mastering Footwear Program was just the right step to realizing his dreams.

Hello, my name is Okorie Chima Ndukwe.

How did you hear about The Aba Mastering Footwear Program?

I heard about the program through a friend.

What motivated you to sign up for The Aba Mastering Footwear Program?

I wanted to go into marketing footwears in combination with my Men’s clothing line. So the program was a step to achieving that.

Tell us your experience during the training.

It was an impactful training. I was surprised at what I could achieve in such a small time.

I was really happy at how much I had learnt and the skill I acquired.

You can see someone is rocking my decollete shoe already.

That’s awesome, so what’s next for you?

Well, I hope to find a work space where I could perfect my skills.

I hope to get into the market full time with my brand.

What advice do you have for young people?

Having a skill is very important and shoe making is really intriguing. Find your niche.

Hello, my name is Chinenye Peace Icha.

How did you hear about The Aba Mastering Footwear Program?

I heard about the program on social media.

What motivated you to sign up for the program?

My quest to learn shoe making made me sign up for the program.

Tell us your experience during the training.

It was an awesome experience. I was really amazed with what I saw.

Not just learning shoe making, but also learning soft skills that would enable one have a complete 360 degree goal setting and it’s achievemnet.

The Footwear Academy is the best place to be, as far as footwear making is concerned.

I will forever remain grateful to this amazing couple, that devoted their time in helping the youth discover their talents.

Sir Bentley and Mrs Chidinma has been a blessing to young people who are passionate about footwear designing.

May heaven continue to reward you guys.

What were your expectations during your one month internship at The Footwear Academy?

Honestly, I needed to be more creative as a footwear designer. Learn more pattern making and perfect my finishing skills.

Indeed, I got more than expected and I don’t regret signing up for the internship.

Awesome, so what’s next for you?

Definitely getting started with what I have learnt and establishing my brand which I named “POM FOOTWEAR”.

Hello, my name is Ndukwe Marvelous Orji.

How did you hear about The Aba Mastering Footwear Program?

I got to know about the program through a friend.

What motivated you to sign up for the Program?

I have always been a lover of leather works. My passion and zeal for shoe making prompted me to sign up for the program.

Tell us your experience during the training.

It is an experience I won’t forget. My love for leather work came to reality just by one encounter with The Footwear Academy.

I never believed I would make good, quality and durable shoes that can stand a chance of competing with International footwear brands.

 

At first, the journey was blurry, but as we continued pushing, I started seeing a dream come true.

Thank God for my kind of teachers, @The Bentley’s, I can’t just comprehend the kind of heart they have in rendering selfless services.

The Footwear Academy is a blessing to the footwear industry.

I intend coming back to The Footwear Academy for an internship program before establishing.

Chioma was just fresh out of NYSC when she heard about the training. She was excited about acquiring a skill and she made good use of her time.

Hello, my name is Chioma Gift Edoziem.

How did you hear about The Aba Mastering Footwear Program?

I got to know about the training through the social media, Facebook precisely.

What motivated you to sign up for the Program?

I saw the program as a means of acquiring a skill and keeping busy, because I had nothing doing as at then due to the Pandemic lockdown.

Tell us your experience during the training?

The experience was top-notch. I saw myself doing things that I never thought I could do. I made my own shoes for the very first time in my life.

In addition to that, I met young  people with a whole new energy and vibe. I also learnt business management and other soft skills.

In all, I’m glad I crossed path with The Footwear Academy and all thanks to Mr Bentley, Mrs Chidinma, Mr Benjamin and Pind Foundation for creating this opportunity.

What’s next for you?

I intend going into footwear business and I have my brand already “Omzy Designs”.

Here are some of the footwear I made myself.

I am currently working with The Footwear Academy. I intend improving my skills and adding value to the Academy in my little way.

Alumni of the Week – Turaki Hassan Muhammad

Today, we present to you the Shoe girl, Chinenye Igwe, one of our batch A student of The Aba Mastering Footwear Program.

Chinenye was already into footwear making before the Program. She makes pams and slippers from the comfort of her home.

She saw a need to sharpen her already existing skill on footwear production and successfully leveraged The Aba Mastering Footwear Training.

Recently, she held an Enterpreneurship session tagged “Skill Up 1.0”. A program aimed at training school children on footwear production at no cost.

Hello, my name is Chinenye Mary Igwe.

How did you hear about The Aba Mastering Footwear Program?

To got to know about the program through social media.

What motivated you to sign up for the Program?

I wanted to learn more about footwear production and connect with people of like minds.

Tell us your experience during the training.

It was a fulfilling experience, just as I hoped for. I didn’t regret registering for the program. I learnt a lot that will help me manage my business.

What’s next for you?

I plan setting up a factory where high quality footwear can be produced and more youths trained in the skill of footwear production.

I have a brand already “Lots Footwear Designs” and I hope to take it to the next level.

Talking about training the youth, can you tell us about the program you held recently?

Well, I had always wanted to give back to the society through my NGO Shining Star Initiative.

I wanted to train school children on footwear production, so I partnered with Exceeding Life Network and we came up the tag “Skill Up 1.0”.

Our target was school children at Ohaukwu LGA of Ebonyi State, we held the training at Practicing School Ezzangbo and had over 50 children in attendance.

To the glory of God, the program was a success.

Really Inspiring, What advice do you have for young people?

Young people should engage themselves profitably by learning a skill. This will minimize the level of dependence on government jobs.

Young people should focus on creating more jobs as the fee jobs available in the country is not enough for the population.
