The Only one who can tell you, ‘you can’t’, is you – Nike.
Welcome to the thirteenth edition of the Alumni of the Week series.
If you missed the previous one, below is the link.
Featuring this week is, Divine Chidinma Amaechi, one of our Batch A student of The Aba Mastering Footwear Program.
Divine once had the school of thought that shoemaking was for the men only.
Could she be right?
Let’s find out as she shares her experience at The Footwear Academy.
Hello Divine, please introduce yourself.
Hello, my name is Divine Chidinma Amaechi.
How did you hear about The Aba Mastering Footwear Program?
I got to know about the program on social media, Facebook precisely.
What motivated you to sign up for the Program?
I’ve always loved and admired the idea behind every beautiful footwear.
I had always thought shoemaking can only be done by the men until I met Mrs Chidinma.
Seeing a woman do what I felt was just for the men, was enough motivation for me to be able to do what I have always admired.
Interesting, so how was your experience during the training?
My experience at The Footwear Academy was fun, educative, interactive and accommodating.
I appreciate Mr Bentley and Mrs Chidinma for giving us their full support and bringing the best out of us.
I left The Footwear Academy feeling fulfilled because I achieved my aim.
These beautiful footwears were made by me, a woman. So women can also make shoes.
Awesome, What’s next for you?
I plan to intern first before establishing my own footwear business.
Could you drop your contact information.
Sure. I can be reached with the number 08139209695
What’s your advice for young people?
My advice for young people is never to allow anything tell you that you can’t do it, once you discover your passion for something, never relent to go for it and bring the best out of it. Don’t miss out when opportunity comes your way.
A woman can also make shoes. Thank you Divine for sharing your Inspiring story. We wish you all the best in your journey ahead.
