To upcycle an unwearable shoe, you can crochet new designs onto the worn out shoes. In the end, your old shoes get a more stylish look and they get to last longer.

Shoe dyeing is another great hack to use in the recycling of worn out or faded shoes. The beautiful thing about shoe dyes is they can be easily gotten and one can choose to dye their unwearable shoes to any colours of their choice. Note that the dye used must be able to penetrate the shoe material you would like to dye as well as be water resistant and be long lasting. Whenever you notice the dye fading, try to apply more dye or it would be faded and patches of different colours can be seen too.

Fabric painting is an ancient practice that has evolved even to this very day. It is the art of using handy things such as paints, brushes and other tools to apply designs and pictures to all types of materials.

To spruce up the look, you can make use of sequins, glitter, jewels or flat back crystals (rhinestones). These are used to give those scruffy heels some bling that it’s been missing. PVA glue would also be required for this process to hold fast the shiny stones.

You can retain some integral parts of the shoe that make up the skeleton of the shoe like the sole and change things like the strap or whatever it is that needs to be saved.
